BEACONS by Daragh Muldowney

BEACONS is a series of images by Daragh Muldowney from Lake Baikal in Siberia documenting the surreal ice road system that guides travellers across the vast frozen expanse of the largest freshwater lake on the planet. This video documents his experience there.

Daragh Muldowney, an award winning photographer, has been traveling to Lake Baikal in Siberia for three years working on his latest project entitled ‘Beacons’.

Lake Baikal is the largest freshwater lake on the planet, by volume. In winter temperatures drop to as low as -40C and the entire lake is frozen enabling the locals to cross the lake.

Daragh has been compiling the images that document the beauty of the ice there and the small trees that mark out the road traversing the frozen lake.
